Chart Builder is a tiny app specially designed for math students with tablets and desktops running Windows 8, 8.1 or 10, which facilitates a clean, distraction-free environment for building line charts based on an f(x) expression.
The software product can be effortlessly installed from the Microsoft Store and integrated with the Windows 8/8.1 Start Screen and Windows 10 Start Menu to launch it just like any other Metro app.
It has a large window with a black background and empty boxes for entering the f(x) expression's known values. The tool asks you to fill in the data and click a button to put together the graph in no time.
The f(x) expression can be entered as a string of characters. Chart Builder supports addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, modulo and power, e, pi and other constants, brackets, along with sine, cosine, logarithm and absolute, among other mathematical operations.
The chart should be quickly generated and displayed right beneath the expression. It can be saved to an image in the PNG format by specifying the output directory and file name, once you've accessed the "App commands" menu by right-clicking any part of the window.
The developer doesn't implement additional features for this tool. Thanks to built-in Windows features, though, you can enter fullscreen mode or share the product with other people via messaging, email, OneNote, Twitter, or others.
An error message pops up when you enter incorrect data, asking you to check the input and try again. Chart Builder remained stable throughout its runtime in our evaluation and didn't hang or crash. It used low CPU and RAM. In conclusion, the tool offers a simple solution for plotting graphs for f(x) expressions, ideal for those who don't want to worry about comprehensive features.
