BoxCryptor is a simple application with a simple purpose: encrypting data in the cloud storage so that unauthorized persons are denied access to the content because everything is encrypted locally.
The product is designed to work with major online storage services, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive from Microsoft or SugarSync.
The entire encryption procedure is seamless as the program creates a virtual drive on the computer, where all the data is secured before it is sent to a synchronization folder of the aforementioned services.
All items are protected individually using strong standards that run both symmetric (AES-256) and asymmetric encryption (RSA), which relies on two keys, one private and one public.
An account is required for using the application and once you log in it automatically detects if you have a cloud sync folder on the system. If it fails to find the location you can provide it manually; multiple locations are supported.
Apart from providing the location of the sync folder there isn’t much to configure for BoxCryptor Crack to run properly. It can be set to start with the operating system and to check for updates automatically. Another option is to turn on the encryption for file names, but this is available only for the paid version.
Once everything is set up, encrypting the data is a cinch because all you have to do to secure it is to drop it on the BoxCryptor drive. Having the virtual drive linked to the online sync folder all the data is automatically protected and ready to be shipped to the remote storage space.
On the downside, we noticed that if there are files present in the sync folder BoxCryptor does not proceed to encrypting them automatically and you have to initiate the process from their context menu; only the new files are processed automatically.
BoxCryptor is definitely a fast and comfortable way to upload your files to the cloud already protected through encryption but it . The developer advertises the service does not store any details about your encryption keys or passwords, which should increase user appeal.
