Content Guard provides a complete parental control software solution that aims to assist parents in protecting their children against inappropriate online content. The poweful technology it relies on enables it to verify the data transmitted to your browser and block pornography before it is displayed.
Content Guard is based on an extensive database of websites that include adult content, with regular updates to improve its reliability. Furthermore, you can define your own list of websites that you consider dangerous, as well as define a number of eligible websites that can be accessed freely.
One of its most important advantages is related to the capability to identify both explicit content and indirect references to erotic material. Three predefined filtering levels are available, but you can define your own rules for the incoming data, as well as block site access based on the IP address.
The application can restrict access to social websites, as well as peer-to-peer networks, in order to prevent direct file exchange. Parents can create a schedule for allowing Internet access on certain hours each day of the week, while the 'Quotas' section enables you to unlock the access to defined resources for a limited time period.
When a website is identified as being on the prohibited sites list, the content is automatically blocked and you can optionally set the program to display a warning message. The event history (URL blocking and permissions, changes in settings and options screenshots) is stored locally.
Content Guard comes with automated protection against uninstalling and monitoring stopping attempts. It installs as a Windows service and prevents others from applying modifications to its settings using password protection.
On an ending note, Content Guard comes in handy for automatically filtering the webpages that are accessed from your computer. And if you have children using the same PC, such a tool is a must for incoming content control and Internet access limitation.
