IP2Location IP-COUNTRY-REGION-CITY-ISP-DOMAIN Database is a database that is used for translating IP addresses (IPv4 or IPv6) to country, region, state, city, Internet Service Provider, company or domain name.
It will allow users to determine the parameters as mentioned above for any IP address by using a series of predefined steps.
The database works by employing several operations which in the end results in the identification of the IP origin. It will first retrieve the IP addresses from the networking protocol or sever-side variables of the Web server.
Further on, it will translate the IP address to an IP number from the IP2Location database and it use it in order to precisely determine the geographical location.
Being deployed as an ASCII Text File (comma delimited) or BIN (API) formats, which contains over 111000 cities, the database holds fields that cover the origin and destination IPs, codes for the country code and name, region name and city name, as well as the ISP and the domain.
For those who deontological matters are important, they must know that the two character country codes and the country names are based on the ISO 3166 standard.
Converting the IP address to an IP number is done using a unique formula that also helps users to isolate records when performing search operations within the database.
