Synthesizers – whether virtual or physical – can be divided into two categories: monophonic and polyphonic. With the former you can play only one note at the same time, while the latter allows you to play multiple notes simultaneously, depending on how many voices the instrument has. While polyphonic synths appeared later and were seen as a big step forward, interest in monophonic synths has never gone away. This is due to the fact that the two types of synth produce rather different sounds and usually have different uses.

To explain, Repro is one product that comes with just one installer that places two plugins on your computer: Repro-1, a monophonic synth, and Repro-5, a polyphonic synth. Not only are their interfaces different, but, as soon as you start playing them, you’ll notice that they sound different too.

It’s probably a good time to mention that both plugins are inspired by well-known synths from the 1980s created by Sequential Circuits: the Pro One and the Prophet-5. I should also mention that the Pro One was created as a monophonic version of the polyphonic Prophet-5. In the case of our plugins, Repro Crack-1 was the first product that was released, while Repro Crack-5 was added later by the developers.

Each synth comes with two multi-wave oscillators, and their sounds can be processed with the help of modulators, LFOs, filters, and envelopes. Both instruments come with well over 1,000 factory presets, so you can start enjoying rich and diverse analog sounds as soon as you get Repro.
