An acronym for Truevision Graphics Adapter, the TGA is an extension for a raster graphic file that was created by TrueVision Inc. This was the same company that created TARGA (Truevision Advanced Raster Graphics Adapter) – the first video card to support a TrueColor display – for IBM compatible computers. While at the time of its release this was a big innovation, technology has rapidly evolved to deliver more advanced video cards and more advanced digital image formats.
If you presumed that TGA files are a thing of the past, you would be surprised to find out that the format is still used widely in the animation and gaming industry, because their products have standard TV screens as intended outputs. While most image viewers and editors can open TGA files, you can still find yourself in a situation where you may want to convert such an image type to another format.
You could do this with a program called TGA to JPG Converter Software. As the name suggests, the application can only convert TGA files to JPG files. From its simplistic interface, you can convert multiple files at a time, and you can also adjust the quality of the JPG output files.
